Kevin (K-Rock) Gray ran the menacing “Murder, Inc.” enforcement wing of the colossal Washington D.C. drug empire built by Rayful Edmond and then taken over by Rodney (The Great Rasoo) Moore in the late 1980s. Murder, Inc., named after the New York mafia’s notorious hit squad of the pre WWII era, painted the streets of the District red with blood, killing recklessly and unmercifully.

Under Edmond, the U.S. Capital’s most infamous crime boss in history, the organization was believed to be involved in 30 murders between 1985 and 1988. When Moore and Gray took the reins in the spring of 1989 upon Edmond’s bust, the body count rose.

From behind bars, Edmond acted as an advisor to Moore and Gray until he flipped and entered the Witness Protection Program in 1996 after getting caught by the feds brokering a $200,000 cocaine deal. Moore handled affairs on the Northeast part of town in D.C. and Gray controlled activity in the District’s Southeast section.

Moore and Gray were indicted in May 2000 and convicted at trial in 2002 and 2003, respectively. Edmond was the star witness against his one-time protégés. Gray was the nephew of former D.C. drug lord Linwood (Big Boy) Gray, the region’s most prominent heroin czar of the 1970s.
