March 5, 2026 — Authorities in Italy have finally okayed extradition to Canada for Quebec crime lord David (Ice Pick) Turmel on Monday so he can come back home and face trial for drug trafficking charges as boss of the notorious Blood Family Mafia organization. Transformative as he is fearless, “Ice Pick” Turmel, 29, was apprehended by Interpol agents last March in Rome after nearly two years on the run as a fugitive hiding in Europe and North Africa. Because of Italian legal protocol, it will most likely be another 60 to 90 days before the RCMP can go retrieve Turmel and return him to a Quebec City detention facility where he will await his day in front of a jury. Prior to him being caught, he rose to No. 1 on Canada’s Ten Most Wanted List. Under Turmel’s leadership in the early 2020s, BFM consolidated street gang affairs in Quebec City to challenge the local Hells Angels Motorcycle Club’s traditional 10 percent tax on drug sales, erupting a war that has yet to cease almost exactly three years later.

The war between BFM and HAMC started in March 2023 when Turmel discovered a tracking device attached to the undercarriage of his SUV, got support from the Sicilian Rizzuto crime family in Montreal and pulled a drive-by shooting on a prominent member of the Quebec City Hells Angels. At that time, the Rizzutos were in their own war with the Hells Angels, but since the Sicilians and the bikers made peace in 2024, the Rizzuto clan have stopped backing BFM in the conflict. More recently, Turmel allegedly cut a deal with the Arab Power Gang and jailed Montreal drug boss Atna (2Pac) Onha to oppose the Rizzuto Mob in a battle for extortion turf across the province while most of the Montreal mafia hierarchy sits behind bars preparing for a gangsterism and murder trial slated to begin in the fall. Turmel’s BFM crew incurred a bust on the home front in Quebec last week, with a dozen BFM members and associates being arrested for drug and pimping offenses.
