Killing Curly On The Sneak: Murder Of Montreal Hells Angels Lieutenant In Prison Helped Set Stage For War Vs. Rizzuto Mob
December 1, 2024 — The fatal poisoning of popular Montreal Hells Angels Motorcycle Club member Andre (Curly) Sauvageau behind bars five years ago may have accelerated tensions in the war between the Hells Angels in Canada and Montreal’s Sicilian Rizzuto mob that erupted out into the open in March 2023, according to GR sources on both sides of the law.
Montreal street-gang Godfather Greg (Picasso) Woolley allegedly admitted he killed Sauvageau in the spring of 2019 to curry favor with deposed Montreal Hells Angels boss Maurice (Mom) Boucher because Savageau was sleeping with Boucher’s common-law wife and the mother of his daughter. JournaldeMontreal and LaPresse recently broke the news of Sauvageau’s murder in prison as he awaited trial on gangsterism charges in larger reporting on Rizzuto mob hit man Freddy Silva’s cooperation.
The 59-year old Sauvageau was found dead in his cell of fentanyl poisoning on the morning of May 28, 2019. When word first hit the street that “Curly” Sauvageau died in prison, it was said to have been of a heart attack. It wasn’t until subsequent years that shot callers in the Hells Angels figured out the truth surrounding his passing, per GR sources.
JournaldeMontreal reported that prison guards discovered Sauvageau frozen stiff on his bed, black fluid from his lungs dotting his sheets, pillow and lower mouth. Less than a month later, on the afternoon of June 20, hundreds of Hells Angels from around Canada descended on Montreal for Curly Sauvageau’s state- funeral style sendoff.
The Portuguese-born Silva told authorities that Woolley confessed to Sauvageau’s murder and requested him to inform “Mom” Boucher that Woolley poisoned his fellow inmate as a gift to Boucher for his transgressions against him. “Picasso” Woolley was aligned closely with the Rizzuto mob and the Hells Angels throughout Boucher’s reign, a leader of the Rockers Motorcycle Club enforcement team and “81” support club during the Great Quebec Biker War of the 1990s. Booted from the Hells Angels in 2014 while doing a life prison term, Boucher succumbed to throat cancer in the summer of 2022. Silva flipped soon theerafter, airlifted out of a prison yard into a protection unit at a undisclosed location.
In the weeks surrounding him being kicked out of HA Nation for undermining club leadership on the street, Boucher was recorded speaking to his daughter about his anger towards Curly Sauvageau for the fact that he was seen out on the town with her mother, Louise. Sauvageau was close to Montreal Hells Angels luminary Gilles Lambert, a top adviser to HA brass in Quebec today, and taken into custody in July 2016 in Lambert’s presence inside a Longueil restaurant.
Woolley, 51, was assassinated in the parking lot of his doctor’s office on November 17, 2023 after a further falling out with Boucher’s successors in the Montreal Hells Angels hierarchy over territory in the midst of the bubbling war against the Rizzuto clan. Sauvageau fought for the now-defunct Rock Machine MC in the Great Quebec Biker War until switching sides to the Hells Angels in 2000 towards the end of the conflict where the Rizzutos mediated an end the hostilities.
The current war between the Rizzutos and the Hells Angels broke out into the open in March 2023 with the attempted assassination of Montreal mafia don Leonardo (Leo the Lawyer) Rizzuto. Tensions started to boil, per exclusive GR sources, on the heels of the March 11, 2019 murder of Niagara Hells Angels enforcer Michael (Dirty Diaz) Deabaitua-Shulde, who was slain on a contract put out by the Rizzutos for skimming without going the pre-arrangement protocols and clearing the hit with the Hells Angels.
Silva told SQ and RCMP intelligence personnel, that he, Woolley and mafia-&-biker go-between Salvatore (Samy the Shoe) Tamauro and others created “The Federation” as an elite hit squad for the Rizzuto mob organization to force the Hells Angels MC out of the Montreal street rackets (bookmaking, narcotics, prostitution) it had run in conjunction with the Rizzutos for decades. Tamauro was killed down in Mexico last December. “Leo the Lawyer” allegedly inducted Silva into the Montreal Sicilian mafia in a 2014 ceremony after Silva planned and carried out the murder of drug gang boss Ducarme Joseph, the man suspected of killing Rizzuto’s brother in the war three years prior.
