GR EXCLUSIVE: Canada Mafia Chief “Baldy” Barberio Will ‘Never Leave Montreal’ No Matter How Much Heat, Charges In Ontario
December 10, 2024 — Rumors of Montreal mafia street boss Davide (Baldy) Barberio taking refuge in Ontario are false. According to sources close to the situation, “Baldy” Barberio remains in Montreal full-time, was never in detention in Ontario and nothing could cause him to leave Quebec, no matter how hostile things get in the ongoing war between the Rizzuto crime family and the Hells Angels.
“He’ll never leave, they’ll have to kill him first,” the source remarked.
Barberio, 45, does have a case stemming out of Toronto though, with a court hearing on the case originally scheduled for this week postponed until January due to health issues concerning Barberio’s defense counsel. His case dropped in the summer of 2023 and he’s been out on bond ever since, never leaving Quebec, despite the flames of war raging all around him.
The mainstream media in Canada has remained mum on Barberio’s current legal predicament. Barberio’s residence in Quebec was searched last December in an ongoing SQ probe into cold-case homicides involving both the Rizzutos and the Hells Angels, former allies turned rivals in recent years because of a dispute over sports gambling, drug and prostitution rackets being operated throughout Quebec and Ontario. Before the war broke out last year, Barberio was a primary go-between for the Rizzutos and the bikers.
Rizzuto mob skippers Marco (East Side Marco) Pizzi, 55, and Giuseppe (Joey Gator) Focarazzo, 49, are allegedly helping Barberio run day-to-day affairs for the Montreal mafia, per sources.
Montreal mafia don Leonardo (Leo the Lawyer) Rizzuto, survived an assassination try in March 2023 that erupted tensions between the mob and the bikers into the open for all to see. “Leo the Lawyer,” 55, has been underground for going on 18 months, living and working bunker style, per sources. Focarazzo made his way into the news headlines last month for his relationship to a terminated Laval police woman and a real estate deal they engaged in together.
Per GR sources, Barberio negotiated the return of Montreal street-gang baron Ahna (2Pac) Otna, 40, and his widely-connected Rap Pack Mob crew earlier this year to fight for the Rizzutos after Otna jumped ship to the Hells Angels MC camp in the first part of the shooting war. Back in 2021, Barberio dodged an attempt on his life as tensions brewed in the Montreal underworld. Pizzi survived a pair of murder contracts in the 2010s during internal strife bubbling within the Rizzuto clan and the fire bombings of his businesses and personal property in the current feud against the Hells Angels.
Otna’s Rap Pack Mob and the rapidly-ascending Arab Power crew are the main suspects in the high-profile November 2023 slaying of Otna’s predecessor as Godfather of Montreal’s street-gang universe, the legendary Greg (Picasso) Woolley, who sided with the Rizzutos in their conflict versus the bikers. The Arab Power crew are essentially free-agent mercenaries in the war doing contract murders for both sides, while jockeying with them for extortion money.
